Leaving My Hustle Girl Era: Finding My Flow in Business

In 2016, I proudly turned the key to my very own business. Fast forward to 2018, and I was knee-deep in all the "right" strategies, ticking every box that screamed success. But reality check: I was running on empty, chasing a success story that wasn’t even mine. By the end of 2018, my body and mind had enough. They waved the white flag, and I had to listen. Something had to give.

This forced pause nudged me into the world of holistic wellness. I started seeing how my well-being was directly linked to my business. It wasn’t just about feeling physically better—it was about shedding old belief systems that didn’t serve me, finding new ways to bounce back, and realizing that this mind-body connection was the secret sauce to a thriving business.

What Hustle Mode Really Is

Hustle mode is often glorified, but in reality, it's a state of constant stress and disconnection from our true selves. It’s when we’re stuck in a cycle of overworking, fueled by adrenaline and the fear of not being enough. This disregulated nervous system leads to burnout, anxiety, and a feeling of being constantly on edge. Essentially, it's your body’s way of being in a perpetual state of fight or flight.

Getting Out of Hustle Mode

Getting out of hustle mode requires a shift in mindset and lifestyle. Here’s how I did it, combining neuroscience and holistic practices:

  1. Nervous System Regulation: Using techniques like deep breathing, meditation, and gentle movement to calm my nervous system. This helps shift from a state of fight or flight to rest and digest.

  2. Mindset Shift: Changing my beliefs around success. Instead of measuring success by how busy I am, I started to value balance, joy, and alignment with my core values.

  3. Holistic Practices: Integrating practices like mindfulness, regular exercise, and adequate sleep. These not only improve physical health but also mental clarity and emotional resilience.

  4. Neuroscience Insights: Understanding how the brain works under stress and learning to rewire it for better responses. This involves practices like neuroplasticity exercises, which help create new, healthier patterns of thinking and behaving.

Slaying the Monster

The monster in this story is the belief that more hustle equals more success. I had to confront this monster head-on, realizing that relentless hustle was not sustainable or healthy. By stepping back and reassessing my approach, I could slay this monster and make room for a more balanced, fulfilling way of working.

Here’s what hit me: Building a business and building yourself aren’t all that different. Both need patience, a lot of trial and error, and the grit to keep going. Even the best strategy will feel like a struggle without the right mindset. My mission now? To help you navigate this wild ride of entrepreneurship. Whether it's finding clarity in your vision, building confidence, aligning your strategy with your true self, or learning to manage your energy and mindset, I’ve got a toolbox to help.

I’ve left my hustle girl era behind and found my flow. Let’s redefine success and build something that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. Because at the end of the day, it’s all about feeling good about the work you do, the life you lead, and of course, making that money, honey!
